‘WhatRhinoSaid’ is a self driven Journey of mine through the medium of Video Games and Geek Culture. I take on the persona of ‘CreativeRhino’ through these virtual worlds. Reason for the name you ask? I’m a very creative person, I take on a creative role in my job and career and as you may have guessed it, Rhino’s are one of my favorite animals.

Video gaming is and more than likely always will be one of, if not my biggest passion in life. I have played video games since before I could even remember. It’s something I’ve been brought up with and watch change over the last two decades of it’s early life. I feel as though gaming is one of the most early mediums which started taking off the same time I was born/growing up.

I also love collecting – Gaming Merchandise, Vinyl Figures, Funko Pops etc. I’m crazy about collecting. I love all kinds of Geek Culture and I’d love to share my collections with you guys.

Now that the world is a very social place, I want to share my journey with Video games. My ups and downs, what I think of current titles, my thoughts on the Art, Design and the Industry as a whole. I want to lavish the games I love with praise and give constructive criticism on those I don’t. I’m not here to entertain the masses but here on a Journey through the world of video games, like many others, and I’d like you to come a long with me. Thanks

    1. No problem and thanks. I write about anything from Gaming, Geek Culture and Japan – and I’m currently thinking about covering otaku culture, anime and manga. Thanks for the follow and support!

      1. Thank you for your likes and your opinion. My next post will be on the pricing of video games and how to choose the best one based on the time you can spend in-game. I hope you’ll like it, too.

As for your YT channel, I’ll check it out as soon as I have the time 😉

  1. Thanks for the fav! I just visited your blog and I already like it. What I’ve seen so far it’s well-written and also well-designed, which isn’t a given all the time. Consider me a follower 🙂

      1. If I knew that, I’d let you know 🙂 I just write posts, try to put out one everyweek about my interests in the gaming world. I then share them on twitter and facebook and the blog just started to pick up followers throughout the year. I never really could have imagined it getting over 1000 followers.

      2. Well I was searching for Fallout 4 soundtracks and I stumbled across the album cover designs you’d done. They are fantastic!! I’m a UI/UX Designer and used to also dabble in Album cover art when I was younger. Do you have a dribbble account (yes that is three ‘l’s’ ha) if not I’d suggest trying to get an invite, is give you one if I had one going spare. I think your work would be very much appreciated on there. Try googling it and see what you think.. Also I’d suggest adding a WordPress widget to your blog so I’m able to follow your site.. I can’t seem to find one? :S

    1. No problem! 🙂 Yoshi’s wooly world looks amazing doesn’t it. I didn’t realise you could unlock costumes in relation to the amiibos you used, until I read your latest post. Thanks for the comment!

      1. I’m glad to have returned the favour. I agree, it does look and it does make me want to play it with someone, rather than on my own like I usually do. Well, I knew that Nintendo were thinking about incorporating amiibos into the game but not how until I watched a few Let’s Plays. I also love the way your blog looks – very professional 🙂

You know they have a glow in the dark Vault Boy from Fallout Pop Vinyl now?

  6. Hey Rhino, first off just wanted to thank you for the likes on my last few posts. I was nervous doing a blind run on Dark Souls considering how the community has distilled the game to an art form, so I’m glad to see someone’s enjoying it.

You mentioned in your last post that you’re working as a UI designer. I’m curious, are you working for a game studio?

    1. You’re braver than me. Ive always wanted to go back and play Dark Douls but I think ive missed my chance. There’s so many games out at the minute it’s hard to juggle all of them. I’m definitely going to be picking Bloodborne up this week though. I’m not working at a game studio at the minute but I have in the past. It’s something that id definitely go back into though. I currently work as a UI/UX designer for apps and websites. Less hours and better pay. But gaming UI is a great challenge!

  7. Hey, thanks a lot for liking my articles over at https://stickybunton.wordpress.com/
We’re just beginning to get started producing content in earnest, so if you’d be willing to give us a shout out that’d be awesome! We’re sitting at a hefty 4 subscribers ourselves right now, so we’re still just trying to get the word out about our reviews, and you definitely have something good going on yourself here (I followed you myself haha). I imagine some of your readers are also the same demographic that would be interested in our stuff too, so any help you could give us would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks again for the likes, always feels good when someone else validates you! haha

    1. Hey, thanks for the kind words. At the minute I’m not doing any shout outs as it’s unfair to others that have asked. Once I do one, then I have to do everybody ha.

I didn’t expect to even have one follower and I was really surprised to get this big of a following already. The best thing is to just be as active as possible, not just by putting blog posts up but by talking to others about the same interests as you. I try to be as active as I can on social media sites and I try to search for posts I enjoy or interest me. I liked your recent post, Hopefully BF 3 doesn’t get shot down by EA, I’d hate it. I LOVE the Battlefront series but I’m very hesitant to how this one will go, I’d hate for it to just be a Battlefield re-skin. But thanks again for the comment and just keep it up.

      1. Haha, fair enough. I can imagine how it could get out of hand, and it would even defeat the purpose, if everyone was constantly asking for shout outs all the time. Thanks for the advice though!
And yeah, tongue-in-cheek style aside, I really am thrilled about the possibility of a new SW Battlefront game… I’m just terrified of EA treating it the way they treated Mass Effect 3 (or worse yet, something like the Sims with hundreds of dollars of expansion content). But hopefully I’m wrong and it turns out great and I get to eat a slice of humble pie while enjoying a fantastic game haha.

      2. Ah that’s another thing I can totally see them adding. Especially with something like The Star Wars genre. I think it will be suffocated with micro transactions. Hopefully like you say I eat humble pie to and that doesn’t happen.

  9. Hey! I love your work and appreciate the occasional like you drop on mine. I often find myself reading it, dumbfounded that someone has managed to so casually articulate such well picked and coherent ideas about videogames. If it isn’t too personal, can I ask, do you write professionally?

    1. Thanks. And thanks for the reminder as towhen DS 2 drops on next gen! I like to share my journey through video gamea, aa they are a tremoundous passion of mine. Ha, I’m very flattered that you think I write professionally but no, sadly I do not. It’d be a dream come true to write about video games for a living.

      1. Hahaha, absolutely no problem at all!
I get exactly where you’re coming from, as my page exists for a similar reason, to spread the love of videogames with other like-minded people.
Honestly, with your standard of writing, you try should to seek out some sort of paid gig, even if it’s just starting up a small videogames column at a local newspaper. Your writing has a really welcoming tone to it, and I really think that more people should be exposed to it.

      2. That’s very kind of you to say. I think if I continue to grow at the rate I am I may well try and seek something I out. I personally don’t think I’m at that standard. I was happy to have one person read my work, let alone have 300 follow me within 2 month. Its amazing. But thanks again for your kind words and for following. I hope to see you around when I publish later installments 🙂

  10. Thanks for liking my post! 🙂 Nice to know some people are reading and enjoying what I write. Anyway, I’ve read some of your posts and it is great how articulate you are about the games you’ve played and how you felt about them (wish I could do the same, but I usually just default to a yes or no with basic feedback, although I’m trying to expand my opinion now).

    1. No problem – I feel the same way about DA. Supposedly once you get past tje first 15 hours of gameplay then the game really comes into it’s own!

Thanks I think at times I become a little too articulate. I just share a great passion for them. I want games to be at the best they can be and I’d rather go into why I didn’t like a game and what can be made better rather than slating it all together. I realise how much solid work goes into making them. Being a designer myself I hate nothing more than criticism that isn’t in anyway constructive.

      1. Ugh. I hate that I’m gonna have to steal the beautiful theme you’re using. Just wanted to let you know in case you noticed that I coincidentally started using the same theme on my own site right after seeing yours. You and your good taste, man. Stop taking all the good ideas, haha.

      2. I guess my eyes are just a little tired of it. I like how my shorter posts seem more substantial in this new theme, and how all my menu and navigation items are in one place. The only thing I’m afraid of is how walls of texts will seem really bland unless I break them up with pictures, but I need to work on that either way.

If you’re worried that the length of your posts make it hard to navigate, try inserting “read more” dividers into your articles.

This guide shows an old version of the post editor but it works the same way. Hope this helps!

    1. Thanks man, I try to limit it to one a week. Working a full time job as well as juggiling friends, family and other things I just can’t find as much time as id like ro be able to put up more.

So id rather put a week into each post, which allows me to craft and nuture each one till they become something half decent ha. Plus I want time to game as well. I dunno how guys like you put up so much great content so fast. It’s amazing. I was reading a few of your articles today at work. Great stuff man! Thanks for the follow!

    1. Thanks man, I’m new to it all. It’s something I’ve really want to start for ages and have a real passion for it and a lot of big ideas on the way.. find me on twitter/facebook too to keep up. Your article was great, can’t believe you’ve already sunk 70 hours into the game, dedication! Best tip I can give you is just try and put atleast 1 post out a week, spend the whole 7 days crafting that post so each time you have something special that you’ve put the time and effort into, some people just post none stop and burn out – and just keep with it buddy! thanks for the follow 🙂

      1. No problem man! 70 hours into Dying Light was well worth it I do that with every game that I play and plan to do a review on so I am putting out the best review that I can. I have a few posts that are going to be coming up if you would like to check them out it would be greatly appreciated:)
